JOHOR BARU: Police are investigating the death of a man whose charred remains were found inside a burning car near the Iskandar Malaysia Housing area here.
Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the burning car was reported at 12.03am on Monday (March 28).
“Based on witness accounts, the car’s engine was still running and its lights were on while it was on fire. The car was found stationary outside the housing area," he said.
ACP Dzulkhairi added that the investigation at the scene found that the victim’s whole body was charred while his arms and fingers were detached from the body.
“No identification documents and valuables were found,” he said, adding that the victim was extracted from the car by the Johor police headquarters’ forensics team with the help of firemen.
The victim was sent to Hospital Sultanah Aminah for a post-mortem and the case was classified as a sudden death report, said ACP Dzulkhairi.
He added the police are also in the process of identifying the victim’s next-of-kin.
