PUTRAJAYA: A former manager of a government-linked company dealing with transport services has been arrested for suspected abuse of power.
The suspect, in his 30s, is believed to have used his position to support a company appointed to transport commodities.
It is learnt that this was carried out in 2019, when he allegedly used his position to appoint a company owned by his wife for sub-contract work amounting to RM80,000.
Sources said that the suspect, who has since left the company, is now working as a manager in his wife’s firm.
The suspect was arrested at the Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office at around 2pm on Monday (March 28).
Selangor MACC director Datuk Alias Salim confirmed the arrest, adding that the suspect would be brought to the Shah Alam Sessions Court on Tuesday (March 29) to be charged.
