SEPANG: A total of 100 police personnel will be stationed at the main terminals of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and KLIA2 when the country’s borders reopen on Friday.

This, according to KLIA police chief Asst Comm Imran Abd Rahman, was to ensure that travellers complied with the standard operating procedure.

“We will ensure that they scan the MySejahtera app and adhere to the SOP at KLIA and KLIA2.

“We are also monitoring the safety aspect at both terminals to ensure the comfort of every individual,” he was quoted as saying by Bernama after launching a blood donation campaign held in conjunction with the 215th Police Day yesterday.

The campaign was organised by the KLIA police contingent.

On March 8, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the reopening of the country’s borders from April 1 as Malaysia begins its transition to the endemic phase of Covid-19.

ACP Imran said about 30 personnel would be assigned to the Mitsui Outlet Park, which was expected to be the focus of many tourists, especially those transiting through KLIA.

“All personnel will be working in shifts at both terminals and Mitsui. This is to ensure the safety of tourists and visitors at all times,” he added.
