PETALING JAYA: There will be a toll exemption for all vehicles at both land border entry points between Johor and Singapore for a week starting on April 1, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Prime Minister said that in conjunction with the reopening of the land border, there would be a toll exemption at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex (CIQ) at the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) and the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) in Iskandar Puteri.

"Beginning April 1, Malaysia and Singapore will allow all fully-vaccinated travellers to cross the land border without having to undergo quarantine or perform Covid-19 testing upon arrival.

“The toll exemption applies to all types of vehicles for seven days, from April 1 to April 7.

“This is to facilitate cross-border travel with Singapore.

“This exception is for Malaysians and users who top-up or renew Touch and Go and Smart Tag,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (March 30).

He added that the toll exemption is for vehicles travelling either way through the two toll plazas involved during the period.

“This decision also takes into account the closure of the Malaysia-Singapore border over the past two years and to ensure smooth traffic at the two toll plazas with the opening of the land border.

“The exemption is in addition to the Road Charge exemption imposed on Singapore-registered private vehicles when entering Malaysia by land at both locations,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said PLUS estimates that at least 42,000 vehicles would enter Malaysia via the Johor Causeway and the Second Link every day.

“The toll clearance decision will benefit more than 300,000 Malaysia-Singapore cross-border trips for vehicle owners.

“Therefore, PLUS in collaboration with the Johor government as well as the relevant ministries and agencies are actively making final preparations to ensure a smooth journey on the highway in conjunction with the reopening.

“This includes preparations at toll plazas, rest areas and all public facilities provided on the PLUS Highway,” he said, adding that the government welcomes the return of Malaysians in Singapore and the arrival of Singaporeans to Malaysia with the reopening of the country's borders.
