U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mostly lower

       NEW YORK, March 30 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly lower on Wednesday with seven of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on a downbeat note.

       Shares of Bilibili and Baidu dropped 5.05 percent and 2.61 percent, respectively, leading the laggards in the top 10 stocks in the index.

       Shares of NIO and XPeng advanced 1.33 percent and 0.85 percent, respectively, leading the gainers in the top 10 stocks.

       U.S. stocks fell on Wednesday, dragged by weakness in major tech names.

       The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 65.38 points, or 0.19 percent, to 35,228.81. The S&P 500 lost 29.15 points, or 0.63 percent, to 4,602.45. The Nasdaq Composite Index decreased 177.37 points, or 1.21 percent, to 14,442.27.

       The Cboe Volatility Index, widely considered as the best fear gauge in the stock market, rose 2.28 percent to 19.33.

       As of Tuesday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index, which is designed to track the performance of the 50 largest Chinese companies listed on U.S. exchanges by total market cap, stood at 2,524.05, marking a 6.13-percent slide for the month-to-date returns and a 15.26-percent loss for the year-to-date returns.
