KUCHING: Sri Aman MP Datuk Masir Kujat says he left his party Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) as he wants to help the Prime Minister to improve the people’s well-being.

In a statement, Masir said he now fully supported the leadership of Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He explained that his decision to leave PSB was made after holding discussions with grassroots supporters in his constituency as well as several other factors such as the political situation in the country that has affected the well-being of the people.

“I believe the best way to move forward is to set aside politics for now in order to help stabilise and rebuild our beloved country,” he said in the statement, reported Bernama

“Our Prime Minister is doing everything possible to help Malaysians get through this difficult period and I have to play my part by fully supporting Ismail Sabri’s leadership,” he added.

In March 2019, Masir left Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), one of the components of the ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition in Sarawak, and joined PSB.

With his departure from PSB, the opposition party has only one MP left in the Dewan Rakyat, namely Baru Bian, who is Selangau MP.
