KOTA KINABALU: DAP has been asked to stop downplaying the role of the rest of the Opposition and misleading the public.

Parti Warisan vice-president Datuk Junz Wong said DAP’s newly-minted secretary-general Anthony Loke had claimed Warisan was taking a “confrontational approach” against DAP, adding that these were just misleading statements.

"They are trying to portray themselves as the victims.

"Ties between Warisan and DAP have become tense due to the latter's betrayal,” he said, adding it happened the minute Pakatan supported Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob via a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in 2021.

"DAP's version of events is misleading. They are trying to hide certain facts and portray themselves as victims,” Wong said when contacted.

Elaborating on the turn of events, he said that Sabahans and Malaysians would have been victims of DAP's charades and hypocrisy, if not for Warisan's firm stand.

"In 2020, Pakatan called the current government a 'backdoor government'.

"Yet in 2021, it signed an MOU to keep the very same 'backdoor government' in power until now," Wong said.

He alleged that after the MOU was inked, Pakatan was given access to approximately RM166.7mil in direct grants and RM178mil in project funds, which it had not disclosed.

He said an MOU 2.0 was also proposed, engineered and pushed by DAP in Parliament recently.

“Who can guarantee that there won’t be the signing of MOU 3.0 or even 4.0 after the 15th General Election?” Wong asked.

In Sabah, he said a similar MOU had been previously proposed but later pulled back by the state DAP.

Wong claimed the dealings and discussions, which led to the proposal were kept hushed up, until it was exposed.

He likened these actions as a betrayal of Warisan and Sabahans.

On Loke’s statement that Warisan would not have been able to form the state government if it weren’t for Pakatan's help, Wong said the same question could be posed to DAP.

“Can DAP or Pakatan form the Federal Government without Warisan? Can DAP win bumiputra votes alone?” he asked.
