SEREMBAN: The skeletal remains of a child were uncovered as police dig deeper into the murder of a 29-year-old woman who was found dead in a ravine in Bukit Putus over two weeks ago.

       The remains are believed to be of a five-year-old girl and were found in a jungle area which police say is connected to the Bukit Putus murder.

       Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Nanda Maarof said police found a skull and several bones which they believe belonged to a girl who had been reported missing.

       "The forensic and pathology teams are now probing to establish this,” he told reporters when met at the scene near Taman Bukit Zamrud.

       Three people, including two brothers aged 41 and 44, along with an 18-year-old girl were arrested two days after the woman's body was discovered in a ravine at KM14 Jalan Bukit Putus on March 20.

       The teenager is the daughter of the elder brother and it is learnt that the murder victim was also related to the trio.

       All three were initially released after their remand order had expired but were arrested and remanded again for a week on April 5.

       One of the suspects has a criminal record dating back to 2011 and was sentenced under Section 201 of the Penal Code for disposing of a body.

       ACP Nanda said one of the suspects and another witness brought police to the place where the child's skeletal remains were found.

       "We have been scouring the area since March 28 and finally found some evidence.

       "The remains were scattered and we believe the victim died between two and three months ago," he said, adding that the child and the woman were not related.

       Police, he said, believed the cases have been resolved and would forward the investigation papers to the Deputy Public Prosecutor's office for further action.

       Asked what was the motive for the murders, ACP Nanda refused to elaborate, adding that this would be revealed in due course.
