Celcom Axiata Bhd (Celcom) customers in Sabah can now get same-day home fibre connection without waiting for an appointment.
The telco announced its ‘Pasang Terus’ campaign where teams in its bluecube trucks will be canvassing neighbourhoods so that residents can sign up without calling for an appointment.
The Home Fibre scheme includes a 1Gbps plan for RM229 per month and a 200Mbps for only RM120 per month.
Celcom claimed that the RM120 plan provides double the speed, compared to the 100Mbps for RM120 per month typically offered to customers in other states.
These plans come bundled with a router, Mesh WiFi, plus up to three months of rebates for selected plans. Customers can also pair their packages with Xpax postpaid plans for better prices.
Celcom CEO Datuk Idham Nawawi said that with the new rollout, the telco targeted to expand 4G LTE population coverage to 85% for Sabah and 92% for Sarawak by end 2022.
He added that in line with the National Digital Infrastructure Plan (Jendela), the company allocated over RM200mil for network improvements in Sabah and Sarawak this year to deliver more reliable Internet services.
The company said it will be deploying 1,145 new 4G LTE sites, upgrading 745 existing 2G sites with 4G LTE technology, and upgrading capacities at 874 existing 4G LTE network sites throughout Sabah and Sarawak.
This was to address the rising data utilisation across Sabah and Sarawak, which as of end 2021 had increased by 31% and 34% respectively, compared to end 2020.
