KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 15,132 recovered cases were reported on Saturday, which is higher than the number of new cases detected at 10,177, says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic).
The Health director-general said 10,124 were local transmissions with 96.8% involving Malaysians and 26.4% foreigners.
As for the 53 imported cases, 73.6% were Malaysians and 26.4% foreigners.
“A total of 486 Covid-19 cases were admitted to hospital with 198 cases or 40.7% in Categories 3, 4 and 5 while the remaining 288 cases or 59.3% in Categories 1 and 2,” Dr Noor Hisham said in a statement.
He said patients requiring ventilators dropped to 108 patients, taking up a usage rate of 12%.
On the usage of health facilities dedicated to Covid-19 cases, Dr Noor Hisham said only Selangor exceeded 50% in bed occupancy for critical or ICU cases at 58%.
The state also recorded occupancy of non-ICU beds at 51%.
Bed use at the Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre in all states were below 50%.
