KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's daily Covid-19 case figures are at their lowest in 11 months with 65 cases on Monday (April 11), says Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic).
The state Covid -19 spokesman said this was the lowest figure since May 18 last year.
He said the drop is due to a large decrease in cases in most districts as well as a marginal increase in new cases over the last few days.
Among the districts that recorded a significant decrease in new cases were Kota Kinabalu (-17), Penampang (-12), Putatan (-8), Beaufort (-8) and Tuaran (-6).
On the other hand, he said although nine districts recorded an increase in new cases, six only recorded an increase of one case each compared to the previous day.
Masidi noted that Kota Kinabalu City is the only district to record new cases in double-digit figures on Monday.
He said 16 districts recorded only one case and 13 districts only recorded between one and four new cases.
"There were no new cases in 10 other districts," he added.
However, Masidi reminded the public that although the number of daily cases in Sabah has decreased significantly, the percentage of sporadic infections remains high at 55.4%.
A total of 59 of the 65 new patients on Monday were in Categories 1 and 2, with two patients each in Categories 3, 4 and 5.
Masidi said the state government was thankful to all agencies involved in the management of the pandemic in Sabah.
"I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the people of this state who have displayed high discipline in complying with all SOPs in force," said Masidi.
"This attitude will certainly help the government manage the spread of Covid-19 more effectively," he added.
