Covid-19 Watch: 7,739 new cases, says Health Ministry

       PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 7,739 new Covid-19 infections on Monday (April 11), says the Health Ministry.

       It said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Tuesday (April 12) that this brings the total number of infections in the country to 4,333,557 cases since the pandemic began.

       The Health Ministry reported that there were 23 imported Covid-19 infections on Monday, with the remaining 7,716 cases being the result of local transmissions.

       The CovidNow portal also said that there were 19,049 recoveries on Monday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 134,469 cases.

       Of the active cases, 97.6% or 131,235 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 266 people, or 0.2% of the active infections are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

       Only 2.1% of active cases or 2,794 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 174 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

       Of that number, 102 require ventilator support.
