SIBU: A 30-year old man has pleaded not guilty to two counts of raping an underage girl here earlier this month.

       Yong Jin Fu claimed trial to the charges in the Sessions Court on Thursday (April 14) and was released on bail of RM5,000 with one surety.

       According to the brief facts of the case the accused had, at about 12.30pm on April 2 and 4pm on April 3, raped a 14-year old girl in his car which was parked at Jalan Ek Dee.

       Yong was charged under Section 376 (1) of the Penal Code for rape on both counts.

       The first charge carries a jail term of not less than 10 years and up to 30 years and whipping upon conviction.

       The second charge provides for a prison sentence not exceeding two years and whipping if found guilty.

       Judge Marutin Pagan fixed June 15 for case management.
