KUALA LUMPUR: Takaful Ikhlas Family Bhd (Takaful IKHLAS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of MNRB Holdings Bhd, has agreed to a strategic partnership of five years with the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Council (MAINS) to focus on waqf programmes to improve the wellbeing of communities in Negeri Sembilan.
Takaful IKHLAS president and chief executive officer Muhammad Fikri Mohamad Rawi said the partnership provides the opportunity for Takaful IKHLAS to reach out to those in need through effective waqf distribution.
"We will be working closely with MAINS to support the community through financial aids and engagement activities from the waqf takaful benefits contributed by our participants,” he said in a statement today.
He said Takaful IKHLAS believes the entrepreneurship training provided through the Asnaf Entrepreneurship Programme (AEP) and the Youth Entrepreneurship Programme (YEP) will help improve the wellbeing of asnaf and youth and subsequently contribute to the betterment of the communities.
The memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed by Muhammad Fikri and MAINS chairman Datuk Dr Abdul Aziz Sheikh Abdul Kadir during the Negeri Sembilan Wakaf month launching ceremony that was held recently in Seremban.
The MOU signing was also witnessed by Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
The MoU allows Takaful IKHLAS to support MAINS in increasing its waqf contribution as well as providing the necessary knowledge and skills in business and self-development to the asnaf and youth in Negeri Sembilan through the AEP and YEP.
Takaful IKHLAS said the activities and programmes under the partnership are also supported by Takaful IKHLAS’ Shariah-compliant fundraising platform IKHLAS Barakah House (IBH).
IBH aims to contribute to a positive and sustainable community through five main pillars - education, healthcare, economic empowerment, community enrichment and environment.
