ISKANDAR PUTERI: A 31-year-old man believed to be involved in two hit-and-run incidents that took place at KM16 of the Johor Baru-Air Hitam stretch and Persiaran Ledang has been arrested.
Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said that the suspect was arrested at about 1.45am on Friday (April 15) at the Iskandar Puteri police headquarters.
"The Johor Baru North and Iskandar Puteri police have received two police reports following the incidents on April 11.
"The owner of the car has been detected and he informed the police that the car was lent to a friend," ACP Dzulkhairi said in a statement here on Friday (April 15).
He added that the suspect later came to the Iskandar Puteri police station and was arrested to assist in the investigation under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving recklessly and dangerously.
"The suspect will be remanded for two days," he said, adding that the car has also been seized.
Earlier, two short video clips of the incidents made rounds on social media.
In the videos, the people recording were seen trying to chase down the red Toyota, which clearly shows its car registration plate number, before the 34-second and 24-second clips ended.
