MALAYSIA Hindu Sangam (MHS) president Datuk RS Mohan Shan has been criticised for remarking on the alleged mismanagement of the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (Mitra) funds, Malaysia Nanban reported.
The MHS president made the comments at the Kuala Lumpur chapter’s 40th annual gathering.
During his speech, Mohan reportedly said that it was unavoidable that mistakes had happened in the MHS as it comprised educated and uneducated members, as even government agencies sometimes face mismanagement issues.
Two MHS officials have since been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). Mohan himself has not faced any direct accusations or been called up by the authorities for questioning.
> The daily also reported that two policemen were among those injured when a stoning war broke out between two communities during a Hindu festival in Delhi, India.
The incident happened during a Hanuman Jayanti procession, which celebrates the birth of Lord Hanuman.
Nine people were injured when the two groups threw stones at each other after an argument grew heated when the procession was passing by a mosque in the Jahangirpuri area.
The incident quickly escalated with cars being set on fire, which saw Delhi police clamp down with 23 arrests.
Police said people from both groups were arrested while five guns and five swords were seized from those in the procession.
