LAHORE: Two housemaids died under mysterious circumstances in two incidents at Ghalib Market and Nishtar Colony on Wednesday.
Initial police reports suggested that Muskan, 14, died in hospital when the driver of her employer shifted her there in a serious condition. She was an employee at the Gulberg residence of Qadeer Ahmad and his driver claimed that Muskan took some poisonous food that led to her death.
The girl’s parents who hail from Jhang reached the hospital and rejected the claim of the employer, demanding investigation into the sudden death of Muskan.
A police official said police questioned the employer and his family and shifted the girl’s body to the city morgue for postmortem. He said the body had marks when it was seized from the hospital by the police experts.
He said Qadeer and his driver had been taken into custody and further action would be taken in the light of the postmortem report.
In other incident, Komal, 18, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan of her landlord’s house at a housing society in Nishtar Colony area, he said. Police reached the house and launched an inquiry when the owner claimed that she ended her life due to unknown reasons.
The parents of the girl, however, expressed doubts on the employer’s statement to police, the official said.
ARRESTED: Dolphin police arrested a rape suspect and handed him over to the Johar Town police on Wednesday.
The suspect kidnapped the girl (S), took her to a deserted place and allegedly raped her. As the parents of the girl called 15, the Dolphin Force rushed to the site and arrested the suspect.
A police official said the rape suspect was a relative of the victim girl and a case has been lodged against him.
