Cops arrest man with drugs worth over RM200,000

       JOHOR BARU: A 49-year-old man has been arrested for possessing drugs worth more than RM200,000 during a raid here.

       State Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) head Asst Comm Mohd Afzanizam Yahaya said the raid was conducted at 12.15am on Thursday (April 21) at an apartment near the city.

       “The man was arrested with 2kg of ecstasy juice, five litres of liquid ecstasy, 1kg of caffeine powder, 35g ketamine, 209 ecstasy pills, and 50 Erimin 5 pills, all worth RM228,495.

       “We have also confiscated RM4,700 cash and foreign notes, SGD800 (RM2,513), aside from a bracelet worth RM1,525,” he said in a statement.

       He added that the man is believed to be part of a syndicate that uses an apartment as its store and has been in operation for about a month.

       Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, a total of 265 individuals have been arrested during a three-day operation to eradicate drug addicts under Ops Tapis.

       ACP Mohd Afzanizam revealed that the operation was conducted from April 18 to 20 across the state.

       “Out of the 265, 62 are wanted persons, 28 are being investigated under Section 3(1) of the Dangerous Drugs (Special Preventive Measures) Act 1985.

       “We also arrested 42 people under Section 39C of the Dangerous Drugs Act,” he said, adding that the rest were detained for various drug offences.

       He added that police also confiscated drugs, namely 59g syabu, 838g heroin, 11g ganja, and two Yaba pills, all worth RM35,919.
