JOHOR BARU: Pakatan Harapan needs to hold on to its Port Dickson Resolution to take an open stance in negotiating and cooperating with any parties for the 15th general election (GE15), says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

       The PKR secretary-general said that the resolution that came out of a retreat in Port Dickson last year stated that Pakatan would strengthen the coalition while also being open to discussions and collaboration with any other party.

       "During the retreat last year, we came out with six resolutions, including to strengthen the coalition and to negotiate with any parties for a collaboration.

       "We did not mention (in the resolution) who we would negotiate or collaborate with. It remains an open-ended statement.

       "We have only expressed our readiness to discuss with any parties in an event that Pakatan's strength is not enough to defeat the ruling party," he said.

       He said this to the media after meeting with state PKR leaders and members here on Friday (April 22).

       Saifuddin was responding to a question on whether Pakatan was ready to collaborate with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and PAS in GE15.

       "At the moment, we just have to register that Pakatan would have an open stance to discuss and collaborate.

       "Many have been asking if we will collaborate with this party and that party and the reactions from leaders varies but for me, I will hold on to the resolution," he said.

       On Wednesday (April 20), Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) deputy president Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub urged the Pakatan leadership to invite Bersatu and PAS leaders in discussing a "big tent" approach for the upcoming GE15, which could happen anytime soon.

       "We have a common enemy, which is Barisan Nasional, and it is important for Opposition parties to ensure a one-on-one fight against them in GE15," he said.

       This was contrary to an earlier statement given by Amanah's president Mohamad Sabu, who said that Pakatan was against cooperating with Umno, Bersatu or PAS in GE15 under its "big tent" approach.

       "Pakatan will not work with traitors who have betrayed the trust and mandate of the people," he said in a statement on Tuesday (April 19).
