PETALING JAYA: In conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri next month, the Transport Ministry has conveyed its best wishes to sailors at Johor Baru Port in Pasir Gudang, in the form of "kuih Raya".
The visit was led by Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, who handed over 150 boxes of kuih prepared by Association of Malaysia Maritime Professionals (Ikmal), the ministry and various stakeholders in the Malaysian maritime industry.
According to Dr Wee, 110 boxes will be distributed in Peninsular Malaysia and the other 40 boxes in Sabah and Sarawak.
"At moments when we celebrate Hari Raya with our loved ones, sailors are fulfilling their duties at sea for the nation," he said in a Facebook post on Sunday (April 24).
Dr Wee also noted that many sailors had been unable to see their loved ones for a long time due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"I hope this gift will cheer up sailors who will be celebrating Hari Raya soon.
"Thank you to the sailors who have contributed to society and the country," he added.
