PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 4,006 new Covid-19 cases as at midnight on Sunday (April 24), says the Health Ministry.
According to the CovidNow portal, 3,999 infections were local transmissions and seven were imported cases.
This brings the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 4,394,125 cases since the pandemic began.
Eight new deaths were reported for a cumulative total of 35,499.
There are currently 74,752 active cases, with 72,906 (97.5%) in home quarantine and 121 (0.2%) in Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres.
There are 1,627 (2.2%) patients hospitalised and 98 in intensive care units, of whom 61 require ventilator support.
To date, 4,320,822 patients have recovered from Covid-19 with 10,223 new recoveries on Sunday.
The portal also reported that a total of 70,070,020 doses of vaccine have been administered, with 27,716,217 (84.9%) people having received their first dose and 26,556,870 (81.3%) having received their second dose.
A total of 16,009,979 (49%) booster doses have been administered.
