KUALA LUMPUR: Any form of disciplinary action against the police officer who allegedly made a live TikTok video during a raid on an entertainment outlet will depend on a full report by Bukit Aman, says Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.
The Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime investigation Department (NCID) director said the female Asst Superintendent (ASP) is attached to the department and is based at the federal police headquarters.
“Directives regarding personal use of social media have been issued in May 2014, August 2020 and February 2021.
“Appropriate action will be taken but will be based on the report by the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS),” he told a press conference at Bukit Aman yesterday.
Comm Ayob said appropriate action would be taken against police officers and personnel for misbehaviour or wrongdoing.
“We will not protect those who have committed offences. Even when I was in Johor, I took action against those with the rank of Supt,” he said.
Earlier, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Razarudin Husain said JIPS had been instructed to investigate the viral video.
“The investigation is focusing on when and where the video was recorded.
“I have instructed JIPS to take the necessary action against the officer involved, including taking her statement about making a live recording during the operation.
“We also want to know the motive of the officer making the recording via her TikTok account,” he said when contacted yesterday.
Razarudin said instructions regarding the use of social media among police officers and personnel, especially involving TikTok, would be issued by JIPS.
“JIPS will take action if the officer involved made the live recording merely to gain followers on TikTok,” he added.
In the 38-second video, the female police officer with the rank of ASP is seen explaining the scope of her work, which includes conducting raids and inspections.
In the midst of filming the video, the officer expresses shock that her video is being viewed live by more than 1,400 followers and says she’s hoping that her account will have more than 100,000 followers.
