KUALA LUMPUR: Some 287kg of syabu worth RM10.3mil were seized following raids in Selangor and Johor.

The syndicate was masterminded by a 25-year-old swimming instructor based in Puchong, Selangor, who was arrested along with three other men.

Bukit Aman Narcotic Crime investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the raids were conducted in Puchong and Johor Baru last Friday and Saturday.

“We believe the syndicate received the drug supply from a neighbouring country via the sea route before shipping it to Indonesia.

“Some of the drugs were also meant for the local market,” he told a press conference yesterday.

The syndicate was believed to have been operating since January, he said.

Comm Ayob said Indonesia was the syndicate’s destination of choice as syabu was worth more there.

“One kilo of syabu in Malaysia is priced about RM37,000 while in Indonesia, it’s RM100,000,” he said.

“We are working hard to arrest other members of the syndicate.

“We hope the public will give their cooperation by contacting the NCID hotline at 012-208 7222.”
