JOHOR BARU: A former contractor has claimed trial over 33 charges against her at the Sessions Court here for falsifying documents to obtain projects for her companies.

       Azlinda Abd Aziz, 45, was charged for the offences in front of Judge Datuk Ahmad Kamal Ariffin Ismail here on Wednesday (April 27).

       Based on the charge sheets for the first 30 offences, she allegedly had falsified the Finance Ministry company registration declaration certificate and the ministry’s bumiputra company registration declaration certificate in the name of three companies with intent that the false documents be used for the purpose of deception.

       For the last three charges, Azlinda was accused of falsifying Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia registration certificate, CIDB Malaysia government work procurement certificate and Bumiputera status work contractor certificate of the Works Ministry contractor service centre.

       However, these three certificates do not exist and were not recognised by CIDB and contractor service centre (PKK).

       She allegedly committed the offences between November 2017 and October 2019 at Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) management services department’s procurement unit.

       Azlinda was charged under Section 468 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail sentence not more than seven years and a fine upon conviction.

       She pleaded not guilty to all 33 charges against her and Ahmad Kamal then set bail at RM23,000 with one surety.

       He also ordered the accused to handover her passport to the country until the case is over and set May 30 for handing over of documents.

       Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) prosecution officer Dayang Masneh Deh prosecuted the case while lawyers Matthews Jud and Omar Kutty Maiadr represented the accused.

       Azlinda posted bail.
