SIBU: Sarawak will adopt the new regulations and protocols set by the Health Ministry to further ease the standard operating procedures (SOP).
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement on Thursday (April 28) said the decision was reached after it had examined the Covid-19 situation in the state at this time and conducted a review on the control and prevention measures to be implemented in Sarawak during this transition to the endemic phase.
Among the matters taken into consideration were high vaccination rates in the adult population where 91% had been fully vaccinated and 75% had received a booster dose.
It also includes declining cases of admission and intensive care.
Other factors were the availability of the paxlovid antiviral pills and the preparation of temporary hospitals Sibu, Miri and Kuching if there was an increase in Covid-19 cases as well as the availability of the self-test kits.
In line with this new development, the Covid-19 case weekly report will only be released every Monday.
"However, the public is advised not to be complacent, and to remain vigilant. Ensure that health recommendations and advice are practised at all times," it advised.
