KUALA LUMPUR: Sentul police will work with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and others to help victims affected by the explosion at the police evidence storage building.
"Today, we visited the homes of victims and the damage seen are the ceilings of houses and windows.
“We have given some donations and have asked DBKL, JKM (Welfare Department) and MCPF (Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation) to send contractors and to assist," said Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai here on Friday (April 29).
He added that the Fire and Rescue Department was still investigating the exact cause of the fire that led to the explosion of fireworks.
Thevingadan Andy, 65, a resident who was injured during the explosion, said that he and his wife ran out of the house in fear of their lives.
"When it happened at first, I thought it was just thunder. But then the sound of explosions continued non-stop.
"It felt like bombs were dropping on my roof," he said.
He added that he came back to the house to retrieve important documents and as he was running out, something struck him in the eye.
"I can still see but my eye hasn't stopped tearing up since then and there is pus. I've been using over the counter medicine but if it gets worse, I'll have to see a doctor," he said.
