KOTA KINABALU: Farmer Raimah Jimbun, who recently lost plots of padi to floods, was hit by another disaster when strong winds struck her village in Kadamaian.
A large section of her partially wooden-and-brick home was damaged by strong winds on April 30 when she and her ailing husband were in the house.
“We were both lucky to be in the living room as the most damaged part was our kitchen,” she said recently when visited by leaders of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS).
Raimah said she was just about to head to her kitchen to cook when she saw her whole kitchen roof ripped off and parts of the wall collapsed.
“In just a few seconds, I lost everything and my padi, which was almost ready for harvest not too long ago,” she said.
Kadamaian PBS division leader Demis Rumanti, who led the visit, said they would help Raimah rebuild her home.
“We will arrange for a gotong- royong and then fix her house.” Raimah still lives in her partially destroyed house for now.
