PETALING JAYA: It is back to work in Putrajaya but many are still on their long journeys home after the long Hari Raya break.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, who returned to his office on Thursday (May 5), said it was still quiet in the federal administrative capital as many were still on holiday in their hometowns.
"This morning, I returned to work at the Transport Ministry.
"The atmosphere around Putrajaya today is quiet because many residents have taken leave until the weekend to go home for the festival in their respective hometowns.
"A security officer at the Transport Ministry building told me that he had just returned from his hometown in Kelantan after an 11-hour journey on Wednesday (May 4).
"Selamat Hari Raya to all," Dr Wee said in an Instagram post Thursday.
Meanwhile, traffic on major highways was reported to be heavy on Thursday, which is the fourth day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, following a rising number of vehicles on the roads and several reported accidents.
According to the PLUS Twitter traffic page, the northbound lane of the North-South Expressway (NSE) was experiencing heavy traffic from Changkat Jering to Kuala Kangsar, Permatang Pauh to Perai, Hentian Sungai Bakap to Jawi and Bandar Baharu to Jawi as at 10.30am Thursday.
