PETALING JAYA: Credit Guarantee Corp Malaysia Bhd (CGC) has appointed Suhaimi Ali as its new non-independent non-executive director effective April 28, 2022.
CGC said Suhaimi is the assistant governor of Bank Negara currently and is responsible for the financial development and innovation, Islamic finance and financial inclusion departments of the central bank.
“He has served Bank Negara for 24 years in various areas including financial sector development, regulation and supervision, strategic planning, market conduct, international negotiations and IT services, as well as in the governor’s office,” it said in a statement.
Suhaimi is a member of Bank Negara’s management, risk management, crisis management, digital technology, financial development, financial stability, joint policy, and reserve management committees.
Suhaimi is also a member of the board of trustees for the International Centre for Leadership in Finance (ICLIF) Trust Fund.
According to CGC, Suhaimi joined the central bank in 1998 after obtaining a degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame in the United States.
CGC said it welcomed Suhaimi and was looking forward to his contribution to the board, management and staff of the corporation.
Meanwhile, CGC accorded its appreciation to Bank Negara’s assistant governor, Adnan Zaylani Mohamad Zahid, who resigned as a non-independent non-executive director of CGC on April 19, 2022.
“Adnan Zaylani joined the board of CGC on Oct 18, 2018, bringing with him 28 years of stellar experience in investment operations and financial markets at the central bank to the betterment of CGC,” it added.
