KUANTAN: The Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway (KLK) and East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT1) users are advised to continue following the travel time advisory issued by concessionaire Anih Berhad.

Its senior general manager Radzimah Mohd Radzi said traffic flow back to the Klang Valley had seen an increase since May 3 in view of the end of public holidays on May 5.

"In this regard, Anih Berhad would like to remind users to keep abreast of the travel time advisory that has been issued to ensure comfort and smoothness in their journey," she said.

Radzimah said compliance with the advisory had also increased to nearly 74% compared to just 55% since it was first announced last week.

She said KLK and LPT1 highway management operations to ensure user comfort at R&R and rest stops had become smoother as a result.

"From April 29 until 4pm on May 5, the number of vehicles on KLK were 1.15 million, while on LPT1, 570,398 had been recorded. Even so, the situation at the R&R areas and rest stops on both of these highways are under control.

"We are confident, in addition to the readiness of our staff, compliance with the travel time advisory by users has to some extent contributed to the comfort of all during that period," said Radzimah in a statement.

With the highways going toll free from midnight of May 7 until 11.59pm on May 8, Radzimah reminded users to keep using their Touch ‘n Go card at the toll plazas to reduce congestion and to make sure the balance in their eWallet, Touch ‘n Go card or SmartTag was sufficient before embarking on their journey.

Anih also advised users to get adequate rest before their journey and to take a break at the R&R and rest stops if necessary.
