KUANTAN: The man seen falling off a moving tanker truck in a now-viral video is believed to be mentally unsound.

       State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Kamarulzaman Jusoh said the 39-year-old man had climbed aboard the tanker at a petrol station in Lanchang, Temerloh in the incident on Sunday (May 8).

       When the tanker was moving through Kampung Dala at about 3.30pm, the man suddenly fell off onto the road.

       The man was then taken to the Lanchang health clinic by another motorist while his family had been informed.

       Supt Kamarulzaman said the tanker truck driver did not realise there was a stowaway until he saw the viral video later that night.

       The tanker driver has since gone to the Temerloh police station to lodge a report, he said.

       Supt Kamarulzaman said the case was being investigated under Section 268 of the Penal Code for public nuisance.

       In the 28-second video recorded by a motorist behind the tanker, the man could be seen clinging precariously to the truck's rear before falling off.

       The motorist behind the truck was already on the phone to alert the Lanchang police station when the incident happened.

       In a separate video, the man could be seen being helped up by other motorists. He had a gash over the left side of his face and cuts on his left arm and leg.
