PETALING JAYA: Malaysia and Saudi Arabia will support each other's candidacy for the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Council, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The Transport Minister said this was decided following a meeting with Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Saleh Nasser Al-Jasser.
"Our meeting lasted 40 minutes and also included the discussion on the objectives laid by the Future Aviation Forum 2022, and challenges faced by the aviation industry during the pandemic.
“We also discussed global cooperation in restarting and energising air mobility without restrictions to help rehabilitate the aeronautical sector, and efforts to strengthen bilateral relations especially in this sector.
"The Saudi government also plans to open its tourism sector as a whole, and not just focusing on the haj and umrah," he said in a Facebook post.
Dr Wee is in Riyadh to attend the Future Aviation Forum.
