Around 11:25 p.m. Sunday, police responded to the 2800 block of Hartford Street SE after a report of a man down. Officers took Jones to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, D.C. police said.
On Monday, police said they arrested Marcel D. Jackson, 35, also of no fixed address, and charged him with second-degree murder.
A D.C. Superior Court judge on Tuesday ordered Jackson detained until his next hearing on May 28. Jackson’s attorney did not respond to an email seeking comment.
One witness told police that the stabbing occurred shortly after an incident involving a thrown bottle, according to an arrest affidavit filed by police in D.C. Superior Court.
