KOTA KINABALU: Part of Jalan Pukak Pahu Nulu in the Kiulu sub-district, some 35km from here, has collapsed following a landslip on Tuesday.

The road, which links Kampung Lokos and Kampung Pahu, is part of the Telipok-Kiulu-Rondogung route that was completed at end of 2019.

Sabah Public Works Department (JKR) director Datuk Ali Ahmad Hamid said the road collapsed at about 3pm after continuous rain.

He said the collapsed section of the road measures some 16 metres in length and is 20 metres deep.

“As a safety measure, the road has since been closed to motorists,” he said.

People, he said, can use the Jalan Tomis Tiong Lokub as an alternative route.

“Meantime, our men have been working to build a temporary diversion road,” Ali Ahmad said.

“We are not sure how long this will take, but the public is advised not to use this route for now.

“We will provide updates on the matter as soon as possible.”

Kiulu assemblyman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said they are communicating with the Sabah JKR, assuring that immediate action is being taken to resolve the matter.

Bangkuai, who is also the Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Assistant Minister, visited the site with Ali Ahmad yesterday.
