Body found near Gunung Suku river identified

       IPOH: The body that was found near a river at Gunung Suku here has been identified as Ng Yee Chew, says Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid.

       He said that the 46-year-old Ng was identified by a dental forensic specialist from Kuala Lumpur Hospital on Monday (May 23) following a post-mortem conducted at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here.

       "This was based on the matching of the physical characteristics from pictures and dental records. The cause of death is classified as multiple injuries due to a landslide," he said in a statement on Tuesday (May 24)," said Comm Mior Faridalathrash.

       "The body has been claimed by the family," he added.

       Comm Mior Faridalathrash had said on Monday that the body parts found at Gunung Suku belonged to the two hikers who went missing recently.

       Ng and another victim, identified as See Su Yen, 32, were believed to have been swept away by a sudden surge of water and soil while hiking with their group of 29 people on May 15.

       Their remains were recovered by search personnel between May 15 and 21.

       On the second victim, Comm Mior Faridalathrash said the comparative report based on the fingerprint was not found on the database of the police and the National Registration Department.

       "DNA samples have been sent to a chemistry laboratory for analysis to verify the identity," he added.
