JOHOR BARU: Teachers should enhance and upskill their knowledge in keeping up with changes in the education field, says Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) president Prof Dr Lee Sze Wei.
Prof Lee said in line with this, TAR UMT would be offering opportunities for teachers to further their education.
“Lifelong learning is a form of self-initiated education that focuses on personal development,” he said after signing a memorandum of agreement with Foon Yew High School for a post-graduate programme in education.
Signing on behalf of the school was its board of governors chairman Tay Chien Hien.
The event was witnessed by TAR UMT board of governors chairman Tan Sri Liow Tiong Lai and Dong Zong president Tan Tai Kim.
Prof Lee said the post-graduate programme is expected to be launched in September and would see the enrolment of some 40 teachers from the school.
“They will take up the programme on a part-time basis for two years and classes will be held on weekends and school holidays via online and at the school,” he added.
Prof Lee said among the modules to be taught are classroom management and fundamentals in education. He said the programme is also open to those who wish to study full time.
