KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman is investigating informants who leaked information on operations conducted by the Road Transport Department (JPJ).
Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said police have detected the activities of the informants who aimed to disrupt JPJ enforcement efforts.
"The informants would follow JPJ vehicles in order to update the whereabouts of the enforcement officers.
"It represents a challenge to the JPJ officers in carrying out their duties," he said in a statement on Friday (May 27).
The informants have made it difficult for the JPJ to take action against vehicles who have infringed on traffic laws, he said.
"Between January last year and May this year, five police reports have been lodged on this matter.
"Two investigation papers have been brought to court under Section 186 of the Penal Code for disrupting the duties of civil servants," he said.
Comm Abd Jalil reminded the public not to be involved in such activities.
"We are committed to assisting the JPJ and other enforcement officers should they face any threat while carrying out their duties," he said.
