KUALA LUMPUR: Cooperation between the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (Miros) and the Civil Defence Force will be able to elevate road safety awareness among the public.

Miros director-general Datuk Dr Khairil Anwar Abu Kassim said such cooperation between government agencies represents the best synergy in closing the gap between research, operation as well as education in security, especially in the aspect of road safety.

"It will in turn contribute towards curbing road safety issues that will benefit the public," he said in a statement after a programme to strengthen the cooperation between both agencies held at the Civil Defence Training Centre in Jengka, Pahang on Saturday (May 28).

Miros was also ready to be the catalyst in gathering data and analysis on road safety involving relevant agencies such as the Civil Defence Force, he said.

Elevating the road safety standards in Malaysia is among Miros's main agenda since it was established in 2007.

"Various activities were held during the programme including road safety campaigns at education institutions and public places around Bandar Tun Razak in Jengka.

"Such efforts are in line with the APM's mission in educating the public, on safety and risk management in case of emergencies.

"Close cooperation between Miros, which has existed since 2020, has given more exposure on road safety for the public through various efforts such as a series of webinars," Miros said.
