1. Explain yourself over partygate, Lord Geidt tells Boris Johnson
Boris Johnson’s ethics adviser on Tuesday demanded an explanation from the Prime Minister over partygate as he said there were “legitimate” questions about whether he broke the ministerial code.
Lord Geidt, the independent adviser on ministers’ interests, also indicated that he had considered resigning because he feared that if he asked Mr Johnson for permission to investigate the matter, the proposal would be rejected. Read the full story.
2. Prince Andrew is trying to make amends, says Archbishop of Canterbury
Prince Andrew is “seeking to make amends”, the Archbishop of Canterbury said as he called for society to be more “forgiving”.

3. Travel chaos set to ‘get worse before it gets better’, unions warn
Unions have warned travel chaos at airports “could get worse before it gets better”, as the Transport Secretary demanded reassurance on Tuesday that summer holidays would not be ruined.
Holidaymakers have been hit with widespread delays and cancellations as airports and airlines have struggled to recruit enough staff after laying off workers during the pandemic. Despite massive recruitment campaigns, unions warned that the industry was still not paying enough. Read the full story.
4. EastEnders changes its tune to honour the Queen
It is an honour bestowed on only the most important of leading ladies. The Queen is to join an elite group of national treasures to be honoured with her own EastEnders theme tune, as programme-makers remix the “iconic” song to pay tribute to the Platinum Jubilee.
A new jubilee theme tune will play over the end credits of a special royal episode of EastEnders on Thursday, after cameo appearances from the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall. Read the full story.
5. Oxford University cleans up its act with ban on ‘trashing’
It has been a rite of passage for decades, allowing gown-clad students to celebrate finishing their finals by hurling prosecco, shaving foam and confetti at each other.
