KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob congratulates the national men’s hockey team for advancing into the finals of the Asia Cup 2020 Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia.
In a post on his official Facebook page Wednesday (June 1), Ismail Sabri said the national men’s hockey squad is the country’s hope to win the Super 4 final of the tournament later Wednesday night.
"We made it to the final after beating Japan 5-0 last night. Tonight we will meet South Korea, our team will surely show a high fighting spirit in facing our opponents.
"Let us pray for the success of our national hockey squad to end the 40-year title drought that we have been waiting for,” he said, adding that he hoped the Speedy Tigers squad will prove that Malaysia can shake Asia.
On Monday (May 31), Malaysia thrashed Japan 5-0 in the Asia Cup Hockey tournament at the Gelora Bung Karno Hockey Stadium to book a spot in the final. - Bernama
