KUALA LUMPUR: The government will adjust its policies to address concerns over the rising cost of goods, the value of the ringgit and national economic recovery, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

       The Prime Minister said there were concerns over these issues and the government would take proactive measures to resolve them.

       "The government has taken drastic measures to remove approved permits (AP) for food imports to address market shortages.

       "This is aimed at controlling the manipulation of the prices by middlemen," he said in his speech at the Barisan Nasional convention on Wednesday (June 1).

       He added that the government introduced the war against middlemen initiative, which was implemented when he was helming the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry in 2014.

       "To ensure enough supply of food for the needs of the Malaysian Family, the government has also introduced the National Food Security Action Plan 2021-2025," said Ismail Sabri.
