SEPANG: A meeting will be held between Federal Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin (pic) and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob soon to decide her position in the Cabinet following her resignation from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).

       The Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister added that a special press conference would also be held once her meeting with the Prime Minister is done next week.

       "I will be meeting the Prime Minister and still waiting for the date. God willing, it would be in the nearest time, (the meeting) will discuss my position in the Cabinet," she said on Thursday (June 2).

       Zuraida spoke to the media at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) after arriving from her work visit in Turkey and Greece.

       She was welcomed by hundreds of PBM members at the airport, with some holding banners and posters showing their support to the Ampang MP.

       She also confirmed that an application for her membership under Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) has been submitted to the party for processing.

       Asked about Bersatu’s claim on the ministerial post she is currently incumbent, Zuraida said the decision lies with Ismail Sabri.

       "I have no comment (about the ministerial post). Let’s wait for the Prime Minister to decide," she said, adding that her decision to leave Bersatu before leaving for a working visit overseas was the right time.

       On Wednesday (June 1), Ismail Sabri said he would meet with Zuraida once she is back in the country and then decide on her Cabinet position.

       On May 26, the minister announced that she had resigned from Bersatu to join Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM).
