Reading ‘The Star’ pays off for trio

       Lucky readers: Davidson, Yeoh and Lee won a Samsung Galaxy smartphone each.

       PETALING JAYA: Three readers of The Star got a delightful surprise when they won snazzy foldable smartphones after subscribing to The Star Digital Access plan.Adrian Linus Davidson, 66, who won the grand prize of a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold smartphone, said he did not expect to win.

       “This is the first time I have won such a prize,” said the long-time reader of The Star.

       “I used to buy physical copies of The Star from the newsstand, but I have now switched to reading the online version,” said the real estate salesperson from Jitra, Kedah.

       Runner-up Kelvin Lee Tsuan Chin, 57, said he was happy to win the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.

       “It was very unexpected so when I was told about it, I was thrilled. I normally don’t win stuff,” he said.

       Lee said he had been reading The Star since the ‘90s.

       “It keeps me informed. I’ve been a subscriber for many years to the online and physical copy,” said Lee, who is from Subang Jaya, Selangor.

       He added that The Star provided trusted, accurate and quick news reporting.

       Lee, who works in the telecommunications industry, said the national news, business and sports stories were among his favourite content.Administrative executive Yeoh Yuan Xiang, 34, from Seremban, also won the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.“You can imagine how happy I am to get this,” said Yeoh, who has been using Samsung phones.

       “I have been reading The Star since my university years. Back then, I would read it in the library.

       “Now I subscribe to the digital content, which is easily accessible. The app provides a comfortable platform for reading,” he added.

       He opted for The Star as it is the leading media brand in Malaysia with a comprehensive coverage of the latest issues.

       “By choosing The Star, I am constantly updated with the latest local and international news,” he said.

       He added that the opinion pieces and the national and business stories were his favourite sections.

       The lucky winners were chosen from a pool of subscribers in the giveaway, which was held from April 4 to May 27.
