Bursa rises slightly on China's reopening

       KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia rebounded on Tuesday following the positive performance on Wall Street on the back of China's roll-back of Covid-related restrictions.

       At 9.05am, the FBM KLCI was up 3.41 points to 1,541.24. The market was positive with 145 gainers compared with 134 decliners.

       Malacca Securities Research expects a mild turnaround in the market supported by bargain-hunting activities following the domestic market's recent sell-off.

       "We opine that the sentiment for the session may remain positive for the selected technology stocks as Nasdaq has been trading above 12,000.

       "Meanwhile, the pickup in oil prices driven by could help lift the energy stocks," it said in a note.

       Early gainers included Petronas Dagangan up 48 sne to RM22.34, PPB rising 22 sen to RM16.54 and Petronas Gas climbing 14 sen to RM16.76.

       Meanwhile, CocoaLand rose 18 sen to RM1.46 on the back of the RM1.50 a share privatisation offer by Fraser & Neave (F&N).

       F&N was down six sen to RM19.94.

       Topping the actives list, ACE Market debutant Yew Lee was up 0.5 sen to 28.5 sen on 100 million shares traded.

       Other actives included G3 up one sen to 5.5 sen and Sapura Energy flat at 5.5 sen.
