JOHOR BARU: A total of 66 individuals, including a civil servant and a teenage girl, have been arrested here after testing positive for drugs at a nightclub here.
The arrests were made during a special operation involving 27 policemen, including five officers, at about 2am on Saturday (June 11), said state police narcotics chief Asst Comm Mohd Afzanizam Yahaya.
"The arrests were made following a raid at an entertainment centre that was operating beyond allowed operation hours. A total of 180 individuals were checked during the raid and 66 were arrested for various offences.
"A total of 34 men, including one civil servant and 18 women and an underage girl, also tested positive for ketamine and methamphetamine," he said in statement here on Saturday (June 11).
He said some 19 foreigners were also arrested for misusing their visitation pass.
"They have been handed over to the Johor Baru south police for further investigation.
"A 44-year-old man, who is the manager of the outlet, was also arrested.
"The suspect was able to show a valid business licence for the outlet. However, he failed to adhere to the operation hours allowed, which is from 10am to midnight only," he added.
The case is being investigated under Section 39(b) of the Immigration Regulation 1963, Section 15(1)(a) of Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 11(2) of the Johor Entertainment Enactment.
