AMMAN, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Jordan and Algeria on Sunday discussed means to boost trade cooperation between the two countries, according to Jordan's Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply.

       At a meeting with his Algerian counterpart Kamal Rezik in Algeria's capital Algiers, Jordanian Industry, Trade and Supply Minister Yousef Shamali voiced Jordan's keenness to develop economic cooperation with Algeria in various fields, said a ministry statement.

       He also highlighted the importance of such cooperation to counter the challenges and the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

       The trade volume between Jordan and Algeria in the first quarter of 2022 amounted to some 72 million U.S. dollars compared with 32 million dollars in the same period in 2021, Shamali said.

       Rezik, for his part, encouraged business people and investors from both countries to turn business opportunities into concrete projects.
