PUTRAJAYA: Speculation that Senior Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Azmin Ali and Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Rashid Hasnon are looking to leave Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia are untrue, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

       The Bersatu president said he was close to Mohd Azmin and had recently discussed plans for the future with Azmin, and not about exiting the party.

       "During the Hari Raya celebrations with them this year, there was also no talk of this.

       "At the same time, why are people targeting us? We are just a small party," he told a press conference after chairing the 6th National Recovery Council meeting on Tuesday (June 14).

       On Plantations Industry and Commodity Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin's position in the Cabinet, Muhyiddin said he had already contacted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

       "The Prime Minister said he will meet me after meeting with Zuraida.

       "Our stance, however, is that her position in the Cabinet was because she was a Bersatu member and that quota (for the party) remains," he said, but added that the final decision is still the Prime Minister's.

       He added that Bersatu would suggest someone suitable to replace Zuraida if needed, adding that there is no date fixed to discuss the matter yet.
