MELAKA: Police have started an investigation into an attempted kidnapping of a six-year-old girl here.
Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said police received information from a 45-year-old man who claimed his daughter was almost abducted by a man while she was returning back from religious class at 6pm on Thursday (June 16) at Kampung Krubong.
“The father claimed that a stranger alighted his car and forcefully pulled the hands of his daughter,” he said when contacted on Friday (June 17).
“The girl’s elder sister and another of their friends who were with her had apparently managed to put up a struggle with the suspected kidnapper before he relented and fled,” he said.
ACP Patit said the three children then ran to a nearby house and narrated their ordeal to the occupant before the father was informed.
He said witnesses provided his men with the registration number of the vehicle used by the suspected kidnapper.
“A check showed that the registration number was fake,” he added.
