KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Keadilan Rakyat will not enter into discussions or cooperate with former deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, says the party's central leadership council.

       PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil said this was decided at a meeting on Monday (June 20) night, where the council also discussed the party's election and preparations for its congress.

       “The central leadership council has decided PKR will not discuss or cooperate with Azmin Ali, who is considered by PKR members, supporters and the general public as one of the main persons behind the Sheraton Move," Fahmi said in a statement shared on his Facebook page Tuesday (June 21).

       He added that the council had agreed the party's women and youth wings would hold their congress on July 15 at Ideal Convention Centre in Shah Alam.

       "The party's national congress will be held at the same venue on July 16 and 17," he added.

       He said this year's party congress would focus on the preparation of the party machinery to face the 15th general election, and at the same time the dissolution of Parliament that could happen at any time.

       Talk has been rife that a possible reconciliation could be on the cards for Azmin and the party after he was reported to have met two PKR emissaries at the Sheraton Hotel in Petaling Jaya recently.

       The International Trade and Industry Minister, however, dismissed talk that he might be rejoining PKR.
