An inmate died at the Prince George’s County jail on Monday after being found wounded, the county Corrections Department said.

       The inmate was found in his cell. He was going in and out of consciousness and had “multiple puncture wounds,” the Corrections Department said.

       Efforts to revive the inmate were unsuccessful, the department said, and he died at the scene.

       The Corrections Department is investigating, along with county police.

       How the wounds were inflicted was unclear, and no cause of death was given.
